By Even after so many years, Genshin Impact is still considered one of the best open-world gacha games available today.
However, some aspects of this game, especially its combat and the visuals, are starting to show their age.
Considering some of the other open-world gacha games in the market right now, Genshin Impact falls a bit behind in many areas. If you’re also starting to notice these things, then this list is for you.
Today, I’m showcasing some of the best games like Genshin Impact that come with better visuals, more engaging open worlds, and impactful combat.
Similar to Genshin Impact, most of these games also feature gacha systems, team-based combat, character building, and tons of grinding.
1. Wuthering Waves
Wuthering Waves (or WuWa) is like Genshin Impact 5.0 as it delivers an impressive experience across all aspects.
The world, the visuals, the art style, the voice-overs, the story, and every part of this game are a few levels ahead of Genshin Impact. But what makes the game great is its combat.
Wuthering Waves has one of the best combat systems in any gacha game out there. It takes a bit of work to learn but it feels super engaging to combine different moves to perform combos. And there are cool cinematics for special moves per every character as well.
WuWa is also considered to be the most free-to-play-friendly gacha game out there. I can attest to that myself as I was able to acquire Lucy from the Cyberpunk 2077 collab event by earning the premium currency from in-game activities.
This game was so good that I even broke my cardinal rule of spending money in online games and bought its monthly sub for 5 bucks.
2. Neverness to Everness
Neverness to Everness is a fairly new gacha game that was released in 2026. Even though the game is new, it’s already quite popular among gacha fans, thanks to its very generous monetization system and, of course, the fun gameplay mechanics.
Neverness to Everness, or NTE, features a modern urban-themed open world that’s similar to GTA. You can drive all kinds of vehicles in this game and engage in various activities, from doing quests to walking on buildings, racing, and even fishing.
Combat in this game is just as fun as WuWa but less complex. It also has loads of quests and side activities along with grinding for character upgrades.
The gacha system in NTE is much more generous than other games as it offers guaranteed wins without the 50/50 pity system.
3. Where Winds Meet
Where Winds Meet is different, but it’s a game similar to Genshin Impact in many ways.
In Where Winds Meet, you get to experience more realistic visuals and a strong story. It has addictive combat with multiple weapon types and fun combat mechanics that make each encounter with a boss feel unique.
When it comes to monetization, you can play Where Winds Meet without spending any money at all. You can spend in the cash shop to speed up progress but you can always grind for resources at your own pace.
Some aspects of Where Winds Meet, especially boss battles, feel a lot like a souls-like game. Big battles are tough, and I wasn’t a fan of them. Thankfully, you can skip those boss battles if they are too hard.
4. Duet Night Abyss
Duet Night Abyss is another great Genshin Impact alternative that has closely similar features to the HoYoverse game. This game is a bit different from other traditional gacha games.
Unlike other games where you have to grind resources and spend real money in the gacha to acquire new weapons, Duet Night Abyss allows players to unlock weapons through progression. This gives you more freedom to experiment with different weapons for different characters.
Additionally, the open world, exploration, anime visuals, and all other aspects of this game are much superior or at least on par with games like Genshin Impact.
5. Arknights: Endfield
Arknights: Endfield is perfect if you enjoy factory automation games just as much as gacha RPGs, because it’s a huge part of this game.
It has all the core elements to be an ideal Genshin alternative. There’s solid party-based combat, loads of characters to choose from, an engaging story, and a huge world to explore.
Then there’s also the factory building and automation system where you get to experience a different style of gameplay similar to games like Satisfactory. While it’s a core part of the gameplay, you can easily get past it it if you’re not a huge fan of factory automation games.
6. Tower Of Fantasy
Tower Of Fantasy is another game with a unique open world. The quality of this game is up for debate. Some say it’s a poorly ported PC port, while others seem to really enjoy it. I’ll leave it up to you to decide.
The cyberpunk/anime aesthetic is the key selling point of Tower Of Fantasy.The game itself, however, has a decent campaign and characters to level up. It has cool motorcycles that you can drive around the map.
The combat and activities in the game are not as amazing as Wuthering Waves or even Genshin Impact, but it’s ideal for a different kind of experience.
7. The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin
Visually, the world aesthetics and the art style of Seven Deadly Sins are very similar to Genshin Impact. In fact, if someone showed you a gameplay video, you’ll probably assume it’s from Genshin. But the game itself is a bit different from Genshin Impact.
In The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, you get to fully experience the world and characters of the popular Seven Deadly Sins franchise. The game is heavily inspired by the anime series of the same name. If you’re a fan, this is a must-play game.
Other than that, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin has all the other core mechanics of a traditional gacha game, including character collecting, grinding for resources, team-based combat, and co-op multiplayer content.
8. Infinity Nikki
Infinity Nikki combines a creative anime art style with 3D visuals to offer a unique world for you to explore.
This game gives off a very casual and chill vibe where fashion and looking good is the true endgame. But it’s also full of quests, puzzles, combat, and a huge open world to explore.
Infinity Nikki is all about relaxing and cozy living while completing some quests and working towards your next outfit. And that makes it an ideal alternative to Genshin Impact, especially if you need something different.
But also, this might not be the ideal game for everyone, especially if you’re after a combat-focused game.
9. Zenless Zone Zero
Zenless Zone Zero doesn’t have an open world. Instead, it features instance-based areas. So this game is probably not the best alternative to Genshin Impact. But hear me out.
ZZZ has one of the best combat systems in gacha games, and its characters are rich with personality. Plus, I love the retro 80s vibe of this game where you get to run your own VHS store. And also explore a different world when you need to.
The gacha system in this game is also very F2P friendly. It’s not as great as WuWa, but it’s friendly enough that it doesn’t get in the way of progression.

10. Guild Wars 2
Guild Wars 2 is another game that’s a bit off the Genshin Impact genre. First of all, it’s not a gacha game. And second, it’s an MMORPG. But there’s a reason why I featured it here.
Guild Wars 2 is one of the best MMORPGs available right now. It has a very generous free trial option where you can easily get around 20 hours’ worth of gameplay out of it before purchasing the expansion packs for a one-time price.
Guild Wars 2 has a ton of activities, quests, grinding, and crafting to do. There are cool jumping puzzles, mounts, different classes, and awesome world bosses to defeat together with other players too.
While it’s not as flashy, colorful, or anime as Genshin Impact, GW2 has a massive world you can freely explore and discover cool things.
Bonus: Dragonsword: Awakening
I would certainly rank this game much higher on this list, but since it’s a paid game, I had to bring it lower. However, compared to the monetization in other gacha games, paying a one-time price is much cheaper nowadays.
Dragonsword: Awakening was originally made as a gacha game, but the developers changed their mind along the way, so they removed the gacha system and released it as a premium game.
The game, however, still looks and feels like a gacha game. It has team-based combat, character switching, leveling systems, quests, mounts, and all the good stuff.
Upcoming: Ananta
Ananta is an upcoming open-world gacha game without the gacha system. It has a beautiful urban open world with loads of cool things, like flying cars.
Everything about this game looks and feels like a triple-A premium title but it’s free-to-play. It also features character switching that’s similar to GTA V and includes an awesome combat system too, as seen in the gameplay previews.
This game will instantly climb to the top of this list once it’s out. The game is coming out in January 2027.
