Warframe is a massive game with tons of content and activities to keep you busy for hundreds of hours.
Fishing is one of the most popular and fun activities in Waframe. However, getting started in fishing is a bit complicated.
If you’re new to Warframe and want to start fishing, this quick guide is for you.
Fishing is not just a fun activity to pass your time. It can also be used to increase your standing in Plains of Eidolon and Fortuna.
You’ll also need fish to get fish oil, which is actually a resource required to build equipment and gear in the game. So learning to fish in Warframe will prove useful to you in many different ways.
Note: You can only go fishing in open-world maps like Plains of Eidolon on Earth and Orb Vallis on Venus. So make sure to progress your way to either of these open worlds to get started.
Step 1: Get A Fishing Spear
To start fishing, you first need a fishing spear. You can buy one from Hai-Luk, the fish vendor in Cetus for about 500 standing.
You can earn standing by doing a couple of missions for Konzu.
Step 2: Equip Fishing Spear
Once you acquire the fishing spear, make sure to equip it in your gear wheel.
Go to your arsenal and switch to the Gear wheel section to equip it from there.
Keep in mind that the fish in Plains and Orb Vallis are different and they require different types of fishing spears. You’ll have to buy the relevant spear to fish in each open world.
Step 3: Start Fishing
Go out in the open and get near a spot with water.
Equip your fishing spear and wait a few moments for the fish to appear.
Once the fish are up and about, start fishing.
Some types of rare fish can only be caught by using fish bait. Fishbait can be acquired in different ways.
Step 4: How To Get Fish Oil
After gathering fish, you can go back to the fish vendor and either trade your fish for standing or cut the fish for resources.
Choose to cut fish if you want fish oil.
It’s as simple as that.
Step 5 (Optional): Get A Resource Booster
Fishing is fun, but it can be tedious at times.
If you have platinum to spare, grab a resource booster.
When it’s activated, you’ll be rewarded twice as many fish every time.
Best Fishing Locations in Warframe
One thing to keep in mind when fishing in Warframe is that different types of fish appear in different locations.
For example, some of the rare fish found in Cambion Drift only appear in the ponds inside caves. So it’s important to know the right spots to fish. If you’re looking for a specific type of fish, I’d recommend looking it up in the Wikis.
There are so many different fish in Warframe and I can’t cover them all in this post. Maybe I’ll do a post just for fish in the future. Until then, use this Wiki guide and the following maps to find the locations for different fish.
