Elder Scrolls Online, ESO, is going through a massive revamp in 2026 and it’s going to completely change the game.

In 2026, ESO is dropping the usual paid DLC content drops and switching over to seasons.

In these seasons, all players who own the base game will be able to access the new campaigns and content, without having to buy the expansion DLCs.

This includes all the dungeons, story campaign, and all the goodies as well. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

The new content drop stars with the Season Zero. But the new stories and quests are getting released with Season One.

Season Zero focuses on improving and enhancing some of the existing systems in the game. And it includes the first visual and balance revamp of the DragonKnight class.

It’s one of the many classes that are expected to get a refresh this year and next year.

With Season Two, comes one of the best features ever to land on ESO, Solo Dungeons! This is long overdue and one I’m looking forward to the most, because I hate running dungeons as a group when one OP-player does everything before I even get a change to land a blow.

Additionally, ESO is also getting rid of some of the predatory monetizations, like the Vampire Bite, that will now be available in the game via a quest giver.

To make up for those, Zenimax is introducing a battle pass with the usual free and premium tier. A good feature of this battle pass is that when you purchase it, you will be able to complete it in your own time even after the season ends.

Here are some other changes coming in the next update:

  • The ability to respec Skills and Attributes directly from the UI at no cost
  • An increase to the speed at which you train your Riding skills
  • An increase to furnishing limits on half of the game’s player houses
  • A return to the 30-day listing window for Guild traders
  • 16 mounts of all shapes and sizes moved from the Crown Store to gold
  • vendors
  • One of these is a brand-new gold purchasable mount: the Ebon Dwarven Horse.
  • Increases to rarer Antiquities expiration times
  • A change to make Outfit Slots account-wide
  • And more!
