By Blizzard has officially unveiled the next installment of the Diablo franchise, DIABLO V, and it’s coming in Spring 2029.
I know it seems like a long way off, but the game is already looking incredible.
For starters, Diablo V is taking inspiration from one of the best ARPGs of all time, Diablo II, and introduces a barren, desolate map without any NPCs.
In this world, all the heroes have lost, and Diablo has won. The world is in chaos; it’s going to be literally hell on earth!
The game won’t have any bustling towns or random NPC encounters. You are going to be traveling with a caravan, and that’s going to be your base.
But you won’t be completely alone. You will have companions that travel with you.
Being alone in a lifeless world is the perfect vibe for a Diablo game. When hell breaks loose, the world is supposed to look the part. So I’m already liking this new approach.
During the Blizzcon 2026 event, the developer revealed a teaser and some details about how the game is going to look like.
Diablo V will have a lot more classes to choose from at launch. In fact, the devs mentioned there will be more classes in Diablo V than the total classes in all the other Diablo games. That’s a big statement.
Demon Hunter, Monk, and Plague Hunter are confirmed for Diablo V.
Gears and items will also feature a classic-inspired design and stats. The items will be much harder to acquire and worth the grind.
There’s still a long way to go, and things will obviously change as we get closer to the game’s release. And of course, we can expect a few delays along the way so there’s plenty of time.
While we wait, Diablo IV will keep us busy with new seasonal content and DLCs. Upcoming DLC will introduce the new Amazon class to the game, which will be a paid DLC.
