games under 10 gb

With some games getting to massive sizes of over 200GB and hard drive prices skyrocketing at the same time, finding games to install has become a game of its own.

Thankfully, there are still many great games that come in small sizes that offer tons of gameplay value.

In this list, I’m showcasing some of the best games under 10 GB for PC you can download from Steam.

Most of these games are compatible with the Steam Deck as well. So if you’re looking for a new game to install on your handheld without uninstalling any other games, these are perfect for you.

Note: I have mentioned the install sizes for each game and download sizes for some of these games will be even smaller. But keep in mind that these sizes may change in the future for games that are still in development.

1. Batman: Arkham Asylum

Batman Arkham Asylum

  • Size: 7.8 GB

The first installment in the Batman video game series deserves to be at the top. It’s that good. I still haven’t seen a game that features action combat mechanics as impactful and satisfying as in the Batman games. It’s something you must experience yourself.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is more than 15 years old but the graphics and gameplay still hold up. And at only 7.8 GB, it offers incredible value. And it is usually on sale at 80% off too.

On top of all that, the game features the voices of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill for Batman and Joker.

2. Disco Elysium

Disco Elysium

  • Size: 9.5 GB

Disco Elysium won several game of the year awards and it is regarded as one of the best narrative-driven games ever made.

Disco Elysium plays like a CRPG but has a more story-focused, detective-style gameplay with multiple endings. Just like its size, this game runs well on even low-end computers as well as Steam Deck.

This game is not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s more about exploring, investigating, finding clues, and making decisions, just like many other CRPGs.

3. Grim Dawn

grim-dawn-review-riftgate

  • Size: 9.9 GB

Grim Dawn is arguably the best ARPG there is. The game not only offers dozens of hours of gameplay but also has tons of replayability with many different build variation possibilities.

Grim Dawn is a decade-old game, and the graphics do feel a bit dated, but in terms of gameplay, it’s much more satisfying than any other ARPG.

The indie developers behind Grim Dawn are still pushing updates and new content for the game, along with new expansions that add new classes and gear sets to farm.

4. Surroundead

Surroundead

  • Size: 1.4 GB

Surroundead is another indie game developed by just one developer. It’s a zombie-survival game with blocky, Minecraft-style graphics and a massive map to explore.

This game is a loot goblin’s paradise. It has tons of loot you can farm and gather across the map. Then you can pick a location to build your base and do different activities.

Surroundead is in early access right now, and the developer is working on new content to be released soon.

5. Project Zomboid

project zomboid

  • Size: 6.8 GB

Project Zomboid features top-down style gameplay with brutal survival mechanics. This is for the hardcore survival fans.

Project Zomboid is like a zombie apocalypse survival sandbox game that features deep gameplay mechanics that force you to play more carefully. Because if you die in this game, that’s it. You have to start over.

It’s a very difficult game, but you can customize the difficulty to your preference. And there’s a massive modding community behind the game that makes the game even more enjoyable.

6. Deep Rock Galactic

Deep Rock Galactic

  • Size: 3.4 GB

If you’re looking for a cool co-op game with a friend who has a low-end laptop or a PC, Deep Rock Galactic is the perfect game for both of you.

Deep Rock Galactic comes in under 3.4 GB, but it includes a gameplay system that allows you to play for countless hours.

It has a procedurally generated mission system where each mission you go to a unique location, so it never feels boring. You simply dive into caves and mine your way through to shoot bugs and farm materials. It sounds basic, but it’s a hell of a fun time.

7. STALKER Enhanced Series

Stalker shadow of chernobyl

  • Size: 11.1, 5.2, 5.1 GB

The original STALKER series has sort of a cult following that kept the game alive through more than a decade. This game series has one of the best AI systems, where NPCs live their lives, go on missions, and even have faction wars.

The original STALKER games recently received an update that enhanced the game for modern consoles and PCs. They come in 11.1 GB for Shadow of Chernobyl, 5.2 GB for Clear Sky, and 5.1 GB for Call of Pripyat.

If 11.1 for Shadow of Chernobyl is too much, you can always download the original version of the game at just 5.6 GB. Of course, there are tons of mods for these games to make them look modern as well.

8. Metro 2033 & Last Light

Metro 2033

  • Size: 7.8 & 9.2 GB

If STALKER is a bit too difficult for you, you should check out Metro.

Metro series has similar vibes to STALKER games but more story-focused and with a little less survival. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a Far Cry-style FPS game. It will test your skills for sure.

Both Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light have fantastic and engaging gameplay as well as a great story. It has weapon customization, weird monsters, and overall an unforgettable experience.

Both games come in under 10 GB and when you’re ready, you can check out Metro Exodus, which is another fantastic game. But it’s around 60 GB.

9. Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout New Vegas

  • Size: 9.2 GB

If you ask any Fallout fan which game is the best in the series, they will all point to this game.

Fallout: New Vegas is iconic for its story, characters, and gameplay value. Whether you’ve never played a Fallout game before or a fan of the newer games, New Vegas will welcome you with open arms.

New Vegas has a different kind of story and new gameplay mechanics, making it a great game to get into for both new and veteran players.

Keep in mind that this game is more than 15 years old so you might have to install a few mods to get it working on modern PCs.

10. Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley

  • Size: 659 MB

I always rank Stardew Valley at the top of my lists so I had to show some love for other games on this list. But that does not make this a bad choice at all.

Stardew Valley is one of the most popular games out there. It offers endless gameplay value, tons of activities to do, and loads of engaging mechanics that keep you hooked for months or even years. And it all comes in at less than 700 MB.

Stardew Valley also runs on basically any device. It’s on consoles, PC, Steam Deck, and even has mobile versions on iOS and Android.

11. Terraria

terraria 2

  • Size: 656 MB

Terraria is a similar vibe to Stardew Valley, but with a more platformer-style gameplay. Think of it like Minecraft, but in a platformer style.

This game is more like a survival sandbox game where you get to build a base, survive, fight monsters, and do much more.

Terraria is also available across all types of devices, including PC, consoles, and mobile.

12. Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider

  • Size: 10.3 GB

I know it’s slightly over the limit at 10.3 GB, but I had to make an exception because it’s such a good game.

The new Tomb Raider has impressive gameplay and a story that make it well worth the 10 GB download. The actor who voiced Lara Croft has done an amazing job that it feels so real to play this game.

If you’re new to Tomb Raider games, it has everything from shooting bows to machine guns, climbing rocks, stealth killing enemies, and even solving puzzles.
